Group Account Director, Client Services & Strategy

Job description

We’re seeking an experienced and strategic medical communications leader to lead key client relationships and drive sustained growth across a portfolio of large-scale accounts. This role requires a hands-on leader who can independently manage flagship accounts while coaching and empowering a team of junior team members to drive business growth.

This is a senior-level opportunity for someone who excels at client leadership, is commercially minded, and thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment. 


Key Responsibilities

Client Leadership & Strategic Growth

  • Independently lead major client accounts
    Serve as a strategic partner, identifying and executing against growth opportunities within client organizations
    Develop and implement account growth plans that align with client goals and business priorities.

Team Leadership & Coaching

  • Mentor and guide a team who manage their own client accounts
    Provide coaching and feedback on revenue generation strategy, growth planning, and client relationship management
    Create a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous development 

Commercial Strategy & Accountability

  • Lead with a commercial lens—ensuring internal plans and team activities directly support revenue growth.

  • Oversee financial health of accounts including forecasting, revenue tracking, and growth metrics.

  • Drive cross-sell and upsell opportunities by aligning internal capabilities with client needs.

Thought Partnership & Innovation

  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients, bringing a clear point of view and constructively challenging assumptions where necessary.

  • Stay ahead of industry trends, particularly in digital communications and patient-centric strategies, and guide clients toward innovative solutions.


Candidate Profile

Must-Have Experience & Traits

  • 8+ years of progressive client services experience within Medical Communications or related fields, with demonstrated success in account growth
  • Bachelor's degree in science or relevant field 
  • Proven leadership experience managing both client relationships and internal teams
  • Strategic mindset with strong commercial acumen; able to connect business goals with client solutions
  • Skilled in coaching others to think commercially and drive results through structured planning
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and fast change; brings an entrepreneurial, problem-solving mindset
