Position Summary
The VP of Business Development will play a critical role in driving revenue growth, expanding strategic partnerships, and guiding commercial direction within the preclinical and drug discovery division.
This role suits a self-starter who thrives in a fast-growing, entrepreneurial environment and can balance hands-on deal execution with strategic leadership. The position will begin as an individual contributor with a clear path to build and manage a high-performing BD team as the organization scales.
Key Responsibilities

Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy focused on preclinical and drug discovery services.

Drive new client acquisition and revenue generation through strategic partnerships with biotech, pharma, and research organizations.

Leverage scientific and market insight to position the company’s services effectively in a competitive CRO landscape.

Collaborate closely with senior leadership to shape commercial direction, pricing models, and go-to-market initiatives.

Represent the company at key industry conferences, client meetings, and networking events to build long-term relationships.

Provide market feedback to influence strategic decisions around service portfolio expansion and investment.

Mentor and guide junior team members as the division grows.
Qualifications

Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field required; PhD preferred.

8+ years of experience in business development or commercial leadership within the CRO or life sciences services sector.

Proven track record of revenue generation, with deal examples or client portfolio to demonstrate success.

Experience within preclinical or discovery-stage CROs essential.

Strong understanding of drug discovery workflows, chemistry services, and biotech client needs.

Entrepreneurial mindset — comfortable operating in a high-growth, evolving environment.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.

Mandarin proficiency is a strong plus.
