Position Summary

The VP of Business Development will play a critical role in driving revenue growth, expanding strategic partnerships, and guiding commercial direction within the preclinical and drug discovery division.

This role suits a self-starter who thrives in a fast-growing, entrepreneurial environment and can balance hands-on deal execution with strategic leadership. The position will begin as an individual contributor with a clear path to build and manage a high-performing BD team as the organization scales.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy focused on preclinical and drug discovery services.

  • Drive new client acquisition and revenue generation through strategic partnerships with biotech, pharma, and research organizations.

  • Leverage scientific and market insight to position the company’s services effectively in a competitive CRO landscape.

  • Collaborate closely with senior leadership to shape commercial direction, pricing models, and go-to-market initiatives.

  • Represent the company at key industry conferences, client meetings, and networking events to build long-term relationships.

  • Provide market feedback to influence strategic decisions around service portfolio expansion and investment.

  • Mentor and guide junior team members as the division grows.


Qualifications

  • Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field required; PhD preferred.

  • 8+ years of experience in business development or commercial leadership within the CRO or life sciences services sector.

  • Proven track record of revenue generation, with deal examples or client portfolio to demonstrate success.

  • Experience within preclinical or discovery-stage CROs essential.

  • Strong understanding of drug discovery workflows, chemistry services, and biotech client needs.

  • Entrepreneurial mindset — comfortable operating in a high-growth, evolving environment.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.

  • Mandarin proficiency is a strong plus.
