Senior Account Manager, Publications

An established medical communications agency is seeking an experienced Senior Account Manager (SAM) with a strong background in Medical Communications, specifically publications

Client & Account Management

  • Serve as the primary day‑to‑day client contact, fostering strong, collaborative relationships.
  • Lead client meetings, status updates, and strategic discussions, ensuring clarity, alignment, and forward momentum.
  • Anticipate client needs and proactively recommend solutions, enhancements, or strategic direction.
  • Monitor overall account health, including satisfaction, retention, and organic growth opportunities.
  • Ensure all deliverables meet client expectations, brand guidelines, and medical communication standards.

Project & Program Oversight

  • Oversee the planning, development, and execution of a variety of MedComms deliverables (e.g., slide decks, advisory boards, symposia, training materials, scientific platforms, medical strategy projects).
  • Develop and manage detailed project plans, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Ensure projects stay within scope while managing changes, risks, and client feedback effectively.
  • Coordinate seamlessly with scientific, editorial, creative, and project management teams.
  • Track progress of all assigned projects and ensure timely delivery across multiple concurrent workstreams.

Internal Leadership & Collaboration

  • Provide clear direction and guidance to project teams, ensuring alignment on goals, expectations, and responsibilities.
  • Facilitate collaboration across teams to promote efficient workflow and unified execution.
  • Support junior team members through mentorship, feedback, and problem‑solving.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal processes, documentation, and workflow optimization.
  • Uphold team accountability while maintaining a positive, supportive working environment.

Financial & Operational Management

  • Develop, monitor, and reconcile project budgets; identify scope changes and prepare estimates accordingly.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial tracking, reporting, and forecasting.
  • Support account leadership in broader account planning, revenue monitoring, and operational decision‑making.

Strategic Contribution

  • Provide input into strategic communication planning and long‑term client initiatives.
  • Support development of annual publication, medical, or strategic plans (depending on client needs).
  • Contribute insights on competitor landscape, marketplace shifts, and therapeutic area context.
  • Participate in new-business development, including proposal writing, pitch support, and scoping.
