Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Business Development Manager/Director (individual contributor- no direct reports) to lead sales and client acquisition within the medical device sector. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of selling services (contract manufacturing, product development, or similar) into medical device companies and the ability to build strong, lasting client relationships. This role will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, managing the sales cycle, and collaborating cross-functionally to deliver high-value solutions that meet client needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive new business development efforts targeting medical device manufacturers.
- Build and manage a strong pipeline of opportunities across contract manufacturing, product development, and other service offerings.
- Lead the full sales cycle from prospecting to close, including client presentations, proposal development, and contract negotiation.
- Develop deep knowledge of client needs, product lifecycles, and regulatory requirements in the medical device sector.
- Collaborate with technical, operations, and project management teams to ensure proposed solutions align with capabilities and client expectations.
- Maintain CRM records, reporting regularly on pipeline, forecasts, and sales performance metrics.
- Represent the company at industry trade shows, networking events, and client meetings.
- Partner with senior leadership to shape go-to-market strategies and refine value propositions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Life Sciences, or related field (MBA preferred).
- 7+ years of business development or sales experience, with a strong focus on selling services to medical device manufacturers (contract manufacturing, product development, engineering services, or related).
- Established network within the medical device industry.
- Proven track record of exceeding sales targets and successfully closing complex deals.
- Strong understanding of medical device regulatory and development environments.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
- Highly motivated self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
- Ability to be onsite in Irvine 1–2 times per week.
