Construction Manager
Job description
BioTalent are hiring an owner's representative Construction Manager for a leading pharmaceutical client located in Portsmouth, NH for a 1-year contract with possibility to extend. Candidates must be willing to work 100% on-site for the duration of the assignment.
The Construction Manager is responsible for overseeing and directing the ECPC construction project from kick-off through completion, ensuring strong communication and coordination between the Client and the General Contractor (GC). This role plays a critical part in delivering the project on time, within scope, and in full compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements, including Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) and Current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP).
Communication and Liaison
- Act as the primary point of contact between the Client and the GC’s superintendent, ensuring smooth communication and collaboration on all construction-related matters.
- Promote effective, collaborative communication among Client teams and construction field personnel, ensuring information flows efficiently across all stakeholders.
Construction Oversight and Management
- Supervise all construction activities to ensure they align with project goals, specifications, and regulatory standards.
- Manage and track the construction schedule, monitoring milestone progress and critical paths to ensure timely project completion.
- Address and resolve construction issues or conflicts in partnership with the GC’s superintendent, implementing solutions that maintain project momentum and quality.
- Prepare and distribute regular construction reports and updates to project stakeholders, highlighting key initiatives, accomplishments, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
Safety and Compliance Enforcement
- Ensure full adherence to EHS guidelines and cGMP requirements throughout all phases of construction.
- Conduct routine site inspections and safety audits (GEMBA) with the safety team to identify and mitigate hazards and uphold a safe work environment.
Quality Control
- Implement and enforce quality control measures to maintain compliance with construction standards and specifications.
- Perform regular inspections and quality assurance checks to verify workmanship and adherence to project expectations.
Team Leadership
- Lead the construction team with clear guidance, fostering a collaborative, productive work environment that supports successful project delivery.
Risk Management and Scheduling
- Lead Risk Assessments at key project milestones to identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Lead Constructability Design Reviews to confirm the project’s design is practical and feasible for construction execution.
- Define and communicate responsibilities for project deliverables, including approval limits and escalation processes.
- Provide expertise in identifying project-specific risks and supporting evaluation of their cost and schedule impacts.
- Participate in periodic risk reviews and serve as the risk owner for assigned risks.
- Serve as a consulted party on the Overall Master Schedule, including baseline updates and reporting, ensuring the project schedule remains comprehensive and realistic.
- Provide input on Schedule Development and Updates to support effective scheduling aligned with the execution approach.
- Maintain accountability for verifying contractor schedules, ensuring they accurately reflect planned construction activities and timelines.
- Ensure achievement of construction milestones, monitoring progress and coordinating necessary adjustments to keep the project on track.
