📍 About the Role
We are seeking a detail‑oriented, safety‑focused Shipping & Receiving Specialist I to join our team in Atlanta. This role plays a key part in ensuring the accurate, compliant, and safe handling of hazardous, non‑hazardous, and radioactive materials. The ideal candidate is reliable, organized, and committed to following regulatory guidelines and quality standards.
This is a fully onsite position with hands-on responsibilities in packaging, shipping, receiving, warehouse organization, and documentation.
đź› Key Responsibilities
Shipping
- Package and ship customer orders—including hazardous, non‑hazardous, and radioactive materials—in full compliance with DOT and IATA regulations.
- Ensure all outgoing shipments are wiped for contamination and properly documented in required logs.
Receiving
- Receive, inspect, and log incoming shipments, including radioactive materials, parts, supplies, and customer‑provided containers.
- Verify packing lists against purchase orders and report discrepancies.
Documentation & Compliance
- Deliver all shipping and receiving documents to the Accounting department daily.
- Maintain accurate and complete logs according to ISO 9001, ISO 17025, and ISO 17043 standards.
- Follow and support Radiological and general safety procedures.
Warehouse Operations
- Ensure shipping, receiving, and warehouse areas are clean, safe, and organized.
- Maintain inventory of packaging and shipping supplies.
- Assist with general facility upkeep and other duties assigned by management.
🎓 Requirements
- High School Diploma.
- 1+ year of experience handling hazardous materials.
- Dangerous Goods / IATA certification is a plus.
- Knowledge of FedEx, UPS, and carrier shipping platforms.
- Basic math skills and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- ​​Knowledge and application of ALARA principles.
✨ Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with radioactive material handling or contamination wipe testing.
- Familiarity with quality systems and documentation in ISO‑regulated environments.
- Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) or ERP systems.
