BioTalent has teamed up with an innovative Biotech organisation with a goal to turn microbiome science into precision therapeutics — They are on their search for a talented Senior Bioinformatics Software Developer to join a dynamic team in Cambridgeshire!

In this role, you'll play a key part in building and optimising cutting-edge bioinformatics tools and production pipelines that drive our therapeutic discovery and development programs. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, helping to shape the future of microbiome-based treatments.

What you’ll be doing:

• Designing and developing innovative bioinformatics tools and analysis workflows
• Building and maintaining robust production pipelines within a managed compute environment
• Streamlining and optimising processes to meet high industry standards
• Exploring and integrating new tools and technologies to continuously enhance our platform
• Partnering with scientists and bioinformaticians across multi-disciplinary projects to deliver impactful solutions

What we’re looking for:

• A PhD or MSc in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or a related field, plus postdoc or equivalent professional experience
• Proven experience working with genomic data
• Strong grasp of software engineering principles — networking, security, scalability
• Cloud computing experience, preferably with AWS
• Proficiency in Python for production-level software development
• Experience with workflow management systems like Nextflow or Cromwell
• Comfortable working in a Linux environment
• Bonus points if you’ve worked with microbiome or metagenomic data!
