BioTalent is pleased to be supporting this early-stage biotechnology company developing a new approach to cell-free biomanufacturing to create a more sustainable and easily scalable biocatalyst platform with the power of enzymes. Their clients range from leading medicines, plastics, fuels, fragrances and flavour providers. We are searching for a Protein Scientist to join their protein sciences team to advance the company’s platform. You will be involved with protein and enzyme design, cloning, protein expression, enzymatic assays and general biochemical methods.

In this role, you will:

Perform and troubleshoot experiments.
Ensure scientific data is accurate and recorded to a high standard.
Characterise enzymes and proteins using biochemical and enzymatic assays.
Design DNA constructs for cloning, expression and characterisation of recombinant enzymes.
Conduct recombinant protein expression across a range of scales from 10mL to 500mL.
Support multiple programmes and activities, working within multi-disciplinary teams.
Responsible for writing and maintaining SOPs, and implementing updates.

You will have:

PhD in a relevant discipline, plus 1-2 years in industry or academia focused on enzymes.
Experience with DNA cloning method and recombinant protein expression in E. coli.
Experience with enzyme activity assay methods.
Motivation to learn and develop and support your peers to do the same.
