Medical Science Liaison (MSL) – Oncology
📍 Field-Based | Southwest Territory (San Diego, CA)

Position Summary
A leading oncology diagnostics organization is seeking a field-based Medical Science Liaison (MSL) to serve as a scientific and clinical expert supporting an oncology diagnostics portfolio with a primary focus on breast cancer. This is a high-visibility, highly collaborative role working closely with oncology sales teams and clinical stakeholders across large territories.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate scientific and clinical exchange with Medical Oncologists, APPs (NPs/PAs), and KOLs through in-person and virtual interactions
- Present technical and clinical data at Tumor Boards, Grand Rounds, roundtables, and regional programs
- Communicate the chemistry, clinical utility, and supporting evidence behind oncology diagnostic assays
- Partner closely with sales, marketing, and internal scientific teams to support education, speaker training, and material review
- Identify and recommend participants for advisory boards and medical education initiatives
- Participate in regional strategy and commercial planning meetings
- Gather field insights and relay scientific feedback internally
- Triage and respond to clinical and scientific inquiries from the field
- Maintain scientific and clinical expertise through conferences, literature review, and collaboration with internal experts
- Travel extensively within the assigned territory (~75%)
Requirements
- PhD required in life sciences or related scientific discipline
- Postdoctoral training preferred
- 1–3 years of clinical, medical, or scientific experience within medical device / diagnostics / biotech
- True oncology focused background
- Hands-on cancer research or clinical exposure (not coursework-only)
- Preference for training under physician-scientists
