Global Head of Financial Crime & Fraud Prevention

UK headquartered FinTech (Payments/EMI) with Series C funding, soon to be series D, is splitting its Compliance & Financial Crime / Fraud Prevention teams as they continue to grow. Currently regulated across Europe, UK, US they are continuing to gain market share & have created a new role for you to create and lead a Financial Crime team globally.

Key responsibilities:
 
  • Maintain fraud and financial crime level within the Company’s risk appetite
  • Create an efficient and high quality fincrime prevention system with a minimum negative effect (if any) on the Company’s business operations / legitimate customers / turnover
  • Lead a diverse team with fraud analysts in each of the licensed jurisdictions
  • Develop SLA for the function and ensure that it is followed by the team

What you’ll be doing
  • Produce and implement a framework plan including relevant strategies and controls to manage financial crime risk across regulated entities, which supports business plans;
  • Design and review financial crime policies, processes and procedures to ensure they meet business needs and expectations, including regulatory requirements;
  • Provide second line compliance monitoring and testing of financial crime risks;
  • Provide second line support for first line fraud prevention teams;
  • Liaise with Internal Audit to ensure appropriate third line oversight of financial crime risk;
  • Maintain the fraud-to-sales level within the Company’s risk appetite;
  • Work with People and Culture and Compliance teams to design and implement appropriate financial crime education, learning and communication for employees;
  • Produce regular management information and data for reporting on Financial Crime risks to be presented to Regional and Group Boards;
  • Ensure horizon scanning on evolving financial crime risks including remaining up to date on global regulatory compliance, emerging trends and opportunities and legislative matters;
  • Provide an advisory role for the business as the SME on Financial Crime;
  • To assist with requests for information from authorities, including police, financial services regulators, consumer rights protection, regulators and courts.

What we’re looking for
  • Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent 
  • International experience as a Head of fincrime monitoring and prevention in an international payment services provider
  • Knowledge of fraud and fincrime patterns in the EEA, USA, and Canada
  • Experience with fraud and fincrime in card payments
  • Incredibly detailed understanding of AML, Sanctions, CTF and AB&C
  • Experience of building cross-border financial crime programmes.
  • Deep technical understanding of the international payment services (money remittances, e-money, other)
  • Experience in developing and implementing compliance planning, monitoring and reporting relating to financial crime
  • Ability to assimilate information quickly and accurately to inform decisions around key functions.
  • Clear communicator with the ability to explain complicated matters in simple terms 
  • Ability to write accurate, clear and concise reports appropriate for the target audience. 
  • Fluent English
