Introduction

This Director of Immunology opportunity is with a pioneering company developing scalable allogenic manufacture based on iPSC technology.  With the benefit of providing low cost, off the shelf to significantly improve patient outcomes.  They are located in Belgium and are undergoing a period of expansion based on the demand for their expertise and development of new products they are bringing to the market.  Their technology is based on pluripotent stem cells with their drive is to better understand iPSC and developmental biology to develop iPSC therapeutics.  To then scale these up to GMP manufacture.  To achieve this they have built a world leading research facility with the purpose to overcome the challenges of iPSC lineage specification.

You will be responsible for
  • Lead a team of 8 (Senior Scientists, Scientists, Associate Scientists) that is responsible for the early development of human iPSC based allogeneic cell therapies.
  • Utilise your immunology and development biology along with leadership to drive and build the team to develop and enhance their iPSC based cell therapy platform.
  • Act as the Immunology SME for early stage platform development.
  • Support the design of high quality experiments, their execution, data analysis and reporting.
  • Predict, react to, and resolve issues that arise during day to day.
  • Lead strategic decision making, project design and delivery.
  • Recommend improvements that can be made, keep up to date with latest developments in the sector and implement any changes required.
  • Represent the immunology group internally and lead collaborative work.
  • Play a key part in Tech Transfer activities of processes to the MSAT group for example.
  • Direct team tasks to meet commercial commitments and that these are delivered in budget.

You will bring the following
  • PhD or MSc in Immunology
  • Scientific expertise in Immunology and Cell therapy development – T Cells, CAR T etc.
  • Experience in early stage research and the development of allogeneic processes.
  • Leadership experience at a Senior level including people, science and strategy.
  • Demonstrable experience of leading and delivering multiple research programmes at a time.
  • Experience in the building, development and management of high performing teams.
  • Capability to contribute to company IP
  • Ability to communicate and influence internal and external stakeholders.
