Job description

We are excited to be partnering with a highly innovative biotech company based in London, who are pushing the boundaries of therapy development through their unique AI-based platform.

They are seeking a highly experienced Senior Protein Scientist who can focus on high-throughput protein production, protein engineering, and protein biochemistry. This will key position within the team and will focused on designing, developing and performing expression and purification experiments to produce high-quality proteins for use in building machine learning models.

It is a highly collaborative role, working with different stakeholders in the R&D and Machine-Learning teams to drive the discovery and development of protein therapeutics for unmet medical needs.

Key responsibilities for this role are:
  • Contribute to drug discovery projects by producing high-quality proteins, antibodies and antibody-like fragments, from plate-based to litre-scale production.
  • Investigate, develop & onboard newly implemented or standard high-throughput protein analysis workflows and experimental techniques.
  • Strive to improve data quality and throughput by optimising established workflows from protein expression, purification and protein QC.
  • QC analyse, interpret and troubleshoot protein production experiments working closely with the R&D teams.
  • Mentor and support the training of technical and non-expert colleagues in protein production.

The key requirements for this role are:
  • Significant industry experience with high-throughput mammalian protein expression.
  • Extensive protein biochemistry experience using a wide range of protein purification and QC techniques, including affinity chromatography, SEC, HPLC.
  • Biophysical characterisation skills including DSF, DLS, SEC-MALS.
  • Previous experience designing and constructing high-throughput mammalian expression & protein purification methods, preferably employing laboratory automation.
