Position: Senior Biomedical Scientist Training Officer (Histology)
Location: London, NW1
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 37.5 hours/week (with weekend rota participation)
Join a leader in healthcare diagnostics and contribute to the smooth operation of a dynamic histology laboratory. As a Senior Biomedical Scientist Training Officer, you'll be at the heart of delivering top-quality histopathology services while mentoring and training a talented team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure timely and accurate processing, cutting, staining, and dispatching of specimens.
- Lead and manage training for Biomedical Scientists, Medical Laboratory Assistants, and Medical Technical Officers.
- Oversee the management of IBMS portfolios.
- Participate in workload management to maintain high standards and productivity.
- Operate and maintain histology equipment in line with department policies.
- Adhere to Health & Safety regulations and laboratory protocols.
- Participate in specimen dissection and the annual staff appraisal process.
- Pursue professional development through necessary training courses.
Requirements:
- HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist (BMS).
- Member of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences (IBMS).
- Master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences.
- At least 4 years of post-registration experience in histology.
- Strong proficiency in histological techniques and specimen dissection.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and laboratory-based IT systems.
- Ability to train others and manage teams effectively.
