Position: Senior Biomedical Scientist Training Officer (Histology)
Location: London, NW1
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 37.5 hours/week (with weekend rota participation)

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure timely and accurate processing, cutting, staining, and dispatching of specimens.
• Lead and manage training for Biomedical Scientists, Medical Laboratory Assistants, and Medical Technical Officers.
• Oversee the management of IBMS portfolios.
• Participate in workload management to maintain high standards and productivity.
• Operate and maintain histology equipment in line with department policies.
• Adhere to Health & Safety regulations and laboratory protocols.
• Participate in specimen dissection and the annual staff appraisal process.
• Pursue professional development through necessary training courses.

Requirements:

• HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist (BMS).
• Member of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences (IBMS).
• Master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences.
• At least 4 years of post-registration experience in histology.
• Strong proficiency in histological techniques and specimen dissection.
• Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and laboratory-based IT systems.
• Ability to train others and manage teams effectively.
