Job description

BioTalent is pleased to be supporting an RNA-based therapeutics biotechnology company as they expand its clinical-stage platform to treat other disease areas. We are supporting them in their search for a Principal Scientist specialising in biochemistry. In this role, you will support the development of novel therapeutics in the field of RNA activation with a specific focus on the discovery and screening of oligonucleotides.

In this role, you will:
  • Design, conduct, and interpret experiments that advance the drug discovery and lead optimisation programs.
  • Conduct independent experimental works in the lab and guide scientists in specific laboratory operations.
  • Carry out cell-based assays for selecting and optimising oligonucleotides for RNA activation.
  • Execution of molecular and cellular biology techniques; including quantitative PCR, Western blot and ELISA, and RNA/DNA/protein extraction from cells and tissues.
  • Analyse data with critical evaluation, and conclusions and plan next steps.
  • Mentor, supervise and train scientists where required.
  • Generate and present project progress reports to key stakeholders.

You will have:
  • PhD in a relevant discipline.
  • 3+ years of post-PhD industry experience within biochemistry and/or translational research.
  • Expert knowledge in RNA Therapeutics and oligonucleotide sciences.
  • Experience in drug discovery and Structure and Activity Relation (SAR) lead optimisation is an advantage.
