Benoît Bely is the Bioinformatics team lead at Tropic Biosciences. From a classic French university curriculum in genetic, molecular biology and physiology. Benoît fell in love with bioinformatics in 1998 with the promise from the Human Genome Project that it would revolutionise medicine, health systems and drug discovery in the next 30 years. In 2008 Benoît joined UniProt at the EBI (European Bioinformatic Institute), where he contributed to generating exponentially growing annotated data behind the services. At Tropic, Benoît leads a team of talented bioinformatician researchers and engineers. The bioinformatics team (BiX) provides an innovation support service to the crops teams and molecular biology laboratory. BiX also built the GEiGS® prediction platform.
