This Senior Scientist opportunity is for a company who are based in Central London and are the driving force behind the Cell & Gene Therapy sector in the UK. With the capabilities to take a cell or gene therapy from discovery, across the translational gap, to the clinic and ultimately launch. They have a track record of success over the last 10 years and are constantly working at the cutting edge of innovation. With programmes for both cell therapies and gene therapies for a range of therapeutic areas. They are seeking a Senior Scientist who can deliver gene engineering projects across a diverse range of cell & gene therapies such as stem cell and viral vector based therapies.  Using your scientific expertise of CRISPR as well as other approaches to enhance the capabilities of therapeutically relevant cell types. 

This role will offer you

  • The chance to be at the cutting edge of therapy development by using your science in an advanced environment.
  • Deliver complex gene editing activities across their project portfolio for both cell & gene therapies
  • Operate as an SME and work closely with different functions internally and externally
  • Influence on project programmes from inception through to close out.

You will be responsible for

  • Be responsible for the delivery of gene editing – CRISPR and other approaches such as ZFN or TALENs for example on multiple programmes at a time.
  • Be an SME for gene editing tools and work closely with other teams & departments
  • Use your scientific expertise for target discovery & validation.
  • Use your gene editing and synthetic biology knowledge to generate cell lines.
  • Ensure delivery of projects that are spread over a range of therapeutic areas by leading a matrix-based team.
  • Design, develop and execute experimental programmes in a matrix environment

You will bring the following

  • PhD or MSc followed by either academic or experience in the field of Gene Editing
  • Experience in the use and application of Gene Editing tools – CRISPR, TALENs or ZFN for example.
  • Experience in the use of synthetic biology tools for gene regulation
  • Experience in the development of analytical methods such as PCR / NGS / Molecular Biology Assays / Flow Cytometry
  • Experience at working with mammalian and human cell lines and cell line development
  • Experience of working iPSC’s, stem cells as well as other cell types.
