Job description

I am currently seeking a dedicated Senior Immunohistochemistry Biomedical Scientist to join a Laboratory Diagnostics organisation based in London. You will take responsibility of overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Immunohistochemistry section, including managing staff and investigations of varying complexity.

 

You will be responsible for:

  • Maintain the highest scientific standards and contribute to improving technical and scientific standards within the department.
  • Collaborate with laboratory management to develop, review, and update Standard Operational Procedures, incorporating suggested improvements and changes.
  • Utilising advanced experience and knowledge to ensure correct decisions are made by staff.
  • Manage sample receipt, preparation, and referral according to departmental policies.
  • Monitor and participate in internal and external Quality Assurance and Quality Control activities to maintain ISO 15189 accreditation.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain specialist equipment to ensure optimal operation.
  • Ensure staff receive required training and competency assessments, and undertake relevant CPD activities.

 

You will bring the following:

  • A BSc Degree in Biomedical Sciences and HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist, and evidence of CPD. Fellowship of the IBMS, MSc, or equivalent desirable.
  • Experience in operating and troubleshooting complex laboratory equipment, service improvement within pathology, training BMS and support staff, and working towards ISO 15189. Experience with IPassport is a plus.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in Immunohistochemistry, Quality Management Systems in pathology, histopathology, and basic physiology/pathology principles.
