We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Quality Control Supervisor to lead the quality function within our metal additive manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in interpreting technical drawings and 3D CAD files, and the ability to manage inspection priorities in a dynamic production environment. This role is key to ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality metal components for medical applications.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Quality Control Supervisor to lead the quality function within our metal additive manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in interpreting technical drawings and 3D CAD files, and the ability to manage inspection priorities in a dynamic production environment. This role is key to ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality metal components for medical applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise a team of QC inspectors to perform inspections on metal 3D printed components, ensuring conformance with design and quality specifications.
- Interpret and validate 2D technical drawings and 3D CAD models for part geometry, tolerances, and critical features.
- Prioritize inspection activities based on production schedules, customer deadlines, and component criticality.
- Provide technical guidance and training to inspectors on inspection techniques, measurement tools, and acceptance criteria.
- Train and mentor QC staff in inspection techniques specific to metal AM, including support structure removal evaluation, post-processing assessment, and porosity/defect detection.
- Review inspection documentation ensuring thorough root cause analysis and timely resolution.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and materials teams to troubleshoot quality issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure quality records are maintained and audits are supported in compliance with standards such as ISO 9001, ISO13485, and customer-specific requirements.
- Monitor key quality KPIs and inspection throughput and recommend improvements to enhance process reliability.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality control, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead inspector role.
- Hands-on experience with inspection tools and equipment (e.g., micrometers, calipers, gauges). Knowledge of Keyence equipment is a big plus.
- Understanding and familiarity with metal AM technologies, and post-processing steps is a big plus.
- Strong skills in interpreting GD&T, 3D CAD models, and engineering drawings.
- Proficiency with metrology equipment, quality management systems (QMS), and reporting software.
- Experience working in regulated environments (e.g., aerospace, medical, or automotive) is a plus.
- Solid knowledge of quality standards and inspection procedures.
- Certifications such as ASQ CQT, GD&T, or NDT Level II are preferred.
- High attention to detail and a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
- Effective team leader with excellent communication and prioritization skills.
