BioTalent are excited to announce a new opportunity for a Software Engineer who will be working with a unique Cell & Gene Therapy start-up biotech based in Hertfordshire.
This position will be focused on designing and implementing software solutions for all aspects of the products, assisting with software development and ensuring medical device and GMP best practise is followed throughout your work. The Software Engineer will play a pivotal role in advancing future bioprocessing technologies within the CGT arena!

This position will be focused on designing and implementing software solutions for all aspects of the products, assisting with software development and ensuring medical device and GMP best practise is followed throughout your work. The Software Engineer will play a pivotal role in advancing future bioprocessing technologies within the CGT arena!
You will be responsible for:
- Defining and understanding technical/end user requirements of the products.
- Championing the creation, debugging, testing, deployment and documentation of software used for new products, this includes software/hardware interfaces, logging data and presentations.
- Closely collaborating with a talented Software Development unit.
- Being aware and adherent to relevant regulatory standards in regards to software (e.g. medical device directives and EU GMP Annex 11)
- Staying on top of relevant QMS (Quality Management System) documentation, keeping things up to date and easily accessible.
You will bring the following:
- Experience designing software for one or more regulated fields (e.g. medical devices).
- Experience writing code in C/C++ and Python.
- Experience writing code for systems and control engineering.
- Software Development experience (mainly focusing on embedded systems).
- Experience working with electronics including microcontrollers.
- Desirable - Understanding of machine vision systems and image recognition.
- Desirable - Experience with Linux distributions such as Ubuntu.
- Desirable - Experience with real-time operating systems such as FreeRTOS.
