He has led major pharma businesses serving diverse patient populations and healthcare systems across Europe and APAC, with particularly deep experience in Greater China. He brings a differentiated combination of Europe–Asia-Pacific fluency, deep insight into talent and leadership benches and a strong commitment to ethical, compliant leadership in complex ecosystems.
Thorsten is known for translating strategy into execution: building high-performing organisations, transforming legacy structures and designing operating models and partnerships. He consistently connects organisational change to outstanding commercial performance, leading businesses to scale with focus, speed and a strong sense of ownership.
His current focus is on helping life sciences companies turn innovation into sustainable business value by strengthening go-to-market innovation, strategic workforce design and flow, and ownership models that create accountability, entrepreneurial energy and a strong voice in how the business is built.
This also shapes his global AI-enabled commercial transformation work for Bayer Pharma, where he focuses on turning AI from isolated pilots into scalable business impact. His work connects commercial strategy, customer engagement, operating model evolution and responsible AI adoption, helping teams use data, advanced analytics and AI to improve decision-making, productivity and market execution.
Thorsten currently serves as CEO of Bayer (Schweiz) AG and Berlis AG, while also serving as Vice President, Global AI-enabled Commercial Transformation for Bayer Pharma.
