This Upstream Viral Vector manager is to join a clinical stage CAR T therapy company whose R&D facility is based in West London.  They are one of the leaders in their field with therapies now at the advanced stages of clinical trials for solid tumours and haematological malignancies.  With their focus also on developing their technology further to develop new therapies. 

Their technology is based on their unique modular programming capabilities to create highly active and specific t cell therapies.  With the advantage to better target cancer cells to then overcome their defences to destroy the cells.

You will be responsible for

  • Provide input into the design of the strategy for the design and development of vectors
  • Lead the development of Upstream processes for Lentiviral vectors
  • Oversee a team of scientists on their day to day Upstream Process Development activities
  • Use your expertise to troubleshoot and overcome challenges faced
  • Operate as the SME within the group and collaborate with other teams.
  • Co Author regulatory documentation for CMC and IND filings for example
  • Evaluate new technologies and automated processes to be introduction to GMP manufacture
  • Design experimental programmes using your expertise
  • Lead the transfer of processes to GMP manufacture.

You will bring the following

  • Hold an MSc or PhD in a relevant Life Sciences field
  • You will need to have demonstrable experience of Upstream Process Development of viral vectors, viruses, lentiviral vectors or AAV for example
  • Experience of line managing a team of scientists
  • Tech Transfer and scale up experience.
