Lead Mechanical Engineer / Product Design Engineer, Special Projects

Summary

We’re seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead development of complex electromechanical consumer hardware products from concept through production. This role involves ownership across the full product lifecycle, including architecture, CAD, prototyping, validation, and manufacturing scale-up, working closely with cross-functional engineering and product teams. You’ll help shape next-generation sensor-integrated hardware systems in a fast-paced environment with strong technical ownership and visibility.


Responsibilities

  • Architect and design complex electromechanical systems integrating plastics, metals, soft goods, sensors, and actuators
  • Drive designs across the full development lifecycle from concept through prototyping, testing, and production ramp in Asia
  • Perform thermal, structural, and fluid analyses to validate product performance and reliability
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with electrical, software, reliability, manufacturing, industrial design, and product teams
  • Support high-volume manufacturing scale-up and overseas production transfer
  • Apply DFM/DFA principles and tolerance analysis to ensure manufacturability and performance
  • Help shape product architecture, features, and technical direction alongside leadership and product stakeholders

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience designing high-volume consumer hardware products
  • Strong experience with injection molding, sheet metal forming, and sensor/electronics integration
  • Experience supporting manufacturing ramp and production partners in Asia
  • High proficiency with 3D CAD tools (SolidWorks, NX, Creo, or similar)
  • Experience with DFM/DFA, tolerance stack-ups, and GD&T
  • Familiarity with root cause analysis, DOEs, and engineering validation methodologies
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical discipline
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally as needed to support manufacturing scale-up
