The Living Drug To Beat Cancer

10 patients who were almost certainly not going to survive after going through chemotherapy and bone marrow transplants, without success, have been given a lifeline with CAR-T Therapy.

CAR-T cells have proved to give previously untreatable patients a new chance to live.

What are CAR-T Cells?

White blood cells (T-Cells) are extracted from the patient’s blood, frozen, and shipped off to the US where they are then modified with a Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR) - a receptor which binds itself to a specific protein on the cancer cells. The modified white blood cells are then re-injected into the patient and actively track down cancer cells and kill them.

CAR T-cell therapy is a kind of cellular therapy, which uses a patient's own immune system cells to attack the cancer.

After 10 patients have been given this treatment, 8 of them have shown incredible improvements and significant signs of the cancer beginning to shrink.

At this moment in time, this type of treatment can only be applied to certain types of Cancer, however, over the next five to ten years, clinical trials will commence to investigate other cancers which can be treated using this therapy giving massive hope to those suffering from cancer.

This is a scientific breakthrough, similar to what many of our clients are working on. If this is something you are passionate about and sounds like an innovative and exciting area of work, please do reach out to our team today to find out more.
